DATE: Victorian, c.1880

A cool antique signet ring set with a square intaglio panel. It's carved with a heraldic coat of arms, likely German or Austrian based on the design, and it's nicolo carved meaning a thin blue layer at the surface of the onyx contrasts with the intaglio itself. The level of detail is exceptional, and the stone is set in a chunky 18 karat gold mount - dating from the latter half of the 19th Century.
